Slacker

Wow! Obviously, I'm a huge slacker.
Trying to get back into the blogging life is hard.
Especially when trying to live your life too!

Anyway. December starts tomorrow.
So I'll need to look over my goals.
I'll try to write that tomorrow.

Not a whole lot has gone on here.
Just working like a maniac.
Thanksgiving.
Etc.

Daniel & I started a small group at church this morning. It was nice.
What wasn't nice was the phone call he got during church.
:(
His grandfather died.
He's been battling Parkinson's for so long and it finally took him.
Though everyone is sad, obviously, they're glad he's finally free from his pain.

Anyway, I'll try to write more often. :/
Perhaps in the new year!

Scripture (Sunday) Monday

Hello faithful followers!

I realize it is now Monday and I missed Scripture Sunday.
But, here's the thing, I wasn't feeling up to blogging yesterday because I received news that two people I went to high school with passed away Saturday night.
When I learned of this Sunday, I was still at work, and by the time I got home I wasn't feeling up to blogging.
But I do still want to share some of my favorite scriptures with you, especially after the fantastic church service I went to yesterday.
So here we go!

Galatians 1:10 - For am I now seeking the approval or man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Man, this is a tough one for me to unpack.
I feel like I spend way more time than I should worrying about what other people think of me, when truly, that doesn't matter at all.
It doesn't matter if I'm prettier than that other girl.
It doesn't matter if I'm skinnier.
It doesn't matter if I'm smarter.
None of this stuff matters.
What matters is my love for Jesus and that my heart is set on serving him.

This is a lesson I'm still trying to learn.

What's a piece of scripture that's been trying to teach you a lesson?

High Five for Friday

I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but one thing I'm really excited about in the blogging world is link-ups.
I think it's going to be awesome to meet other cool bloggers.
Plus, it automatically gives me something to talk about!
So, today I'm linking up with Lauren Elizabeth for High Five for Friday, where I will share 5 good things that happened to me this week.

1. Well, on Tuesday I had my first formal observation where my principal came into my classroom to watch me teach. Let's just say I was pretty dang nervous. He came to observe me teach my 3rd grade small group (4 students) and I taught them a lesson about irregular past tense verbs (eg. "bought" not "buyed"). There were multiple times during the observation where my internal monologue was saying "Oh no. This is bad. This is going so badly." but when I was finished, he called me into his office and had nothing but good things to say. Apparently it went really well!

2. I got an e-mail from the Pastor at the church Daniel and I have started attending, asking us to become members of a small group that he's starting up. It was nice that he thought of us. He wants us to join a small group to get started on becoming members, so we're pretty excited. :)

3. I went back to my day care for a couple days this week. I've really missed the kids and it'll be just a little extra cash in my hands at the end of the month.

4. I finally went back to the gym the other day and ran/biked some for my I Run 4 Sibling Buddy. It made me feel good. But, I haven't gone back yet. Oops!

5. Although we were stuck in a boring meeting all day for work, I got to go to lunch with some co-workers and have some good conversations. We all rode together, stopped by one of my co-workers house that she's remodeling and then went for lunch before having to go back to our meeting. It made me feel really good to be accepted so easily as a first year teacher in the building!

How has your week been? Join me in linking up with Lauren Elizabeth for

2:00 - Work with a small group of 2nd graders on sight words (Every other day)

3:30 - Dismissal is over. Go inside and get things ready for the next day (Meetings on Mondays)
4:00 - Leave school, head for daycare.
4:30 - Get to day care and figure out which classroom I'm working in today
6:00 - Done at daycare (occasionally a little earlier, depend on when all parents pick up)

Some of these times are kind of flexible.
And my school schedule works on an every other day type of schedule.
But for the most part, this is what I deal with.
It's a lot.

Scripture Sunday #3

Hello again.
This week on Scripture Sunday, I'm turning to Romans.

This verse is powerful for me because it shows me that I don't have to worry about what's going on now.
Sure, life can be sucky.
BUT, He's going to reveal AMAZING things to us later on, when we reach eternity.
And I can't wait to see exactly what that is.

Pinteresting Picks of the Week

Start the first Christmas as a married couple and add a bell each year!
1. I REALLY need to make one of these. :)
I love, love, LOVE the idea.
You put in a jingle bell for every year you're together.
Daniel and I are spending our first Christmas together as a married couple this year, so I think this will have to happen.
(This will also be the first thing I actually make off of my Pinterest, if it ends up happening)

 XD
2. This made me laugh really hard.
I've definitely had some of these thoughts.
I want to know what his assignment was!

Set dates and deadlines for yourself, or nothing will get accomplished
3. Enough said.

Are you exhausted? Me too, but we've got this. Head over to the blog for words of encouragement, plus print this free reminder. We're in this together. #unity
4. I'm going to print this out and hang it next to my desk at work.
Or at home.
Or both.

Thanksgiving bulletin board | Could use my Fall in Love with Jesus tree board and turn into this w/o cross.
5. Starting work on this bulletin board in my classroom tomorrow!

Now It's November

Holy buckets. It's November.

I was going to do a Weekend Wrap-Up this week, but then I realized that it's the beginning of a new month, so I need to set my goals!
Besides that, all I did was go out with some co-workers on Friday, work on Saturday, and church then work on Sunday. Oh, and I learned how to do laundry in the bathtub! #helpmeimpoor

One of my favorite things I used to do when I was blogging all the time was to set goals for myself each month, then reflect back on them.
I'm now older and wiser (maybe) so hopefully I do a little better at working towards and keeping my goals than I've done in the past.

Here they are:

1. Participate in the Winter Reading Challenge
My friend Meghan showed me a blog with a Winter Reading Challenge on it and I am SO EXCITED to participate! I absolutely love reading and I also love challenges.

2. Get 7-8 hours of sleep at least 3-4 times a week.
I know this seems super little. But I definitely don't sleep enough.
I read a Teacher Blog post lately that people were commenting on about how to beat first-year exhaustion and one of the comments said that at 9:00 they drop everything, no matter what it is, and go to bed.
I can't do 9:00 (at least not yet) but I'm setting a goal for myself to try to be in bed around 10:00 at least.

3. Get moving!
Ugh. I've had a weight loss goal for probably forever and I have not come anywhere near reaching it.
That's mostly because I'm lazy.
I get sucked up into the internet and tv and don't get up off my bum.
So, there's that. I'm not going to put an actual weight goal on this month. It's just going to be about getting back into moving. Then when December comes around, we can start crunching numbers.

4. Get more into blogging!
I've loved being back to blogging.
But I still want to get bigger and better! :)
By this I mean, I need more suggestions on blogs to read and I'd like to know if you're reading me too (and if so, what kind of things do you want to see from me?).
I'd also like to make my blog look better, but I have NO IDEA where to start with that.
So, drop me a comment if you feel so inclined.

There's some other smaller things that probably need taken care of, but these are my big goals for the month. Any and all help and feedback is appreciated!

Scripture Sunday

Come to me all who labor and are heavy burdened and I will give you rest. - Matthew 11:28

I've seen this verse numerous times throughout my reading this week and then it was brought up again today at church.
Apparently it's something that God really thinks I need to hear!

This scripture has stuck out to me, particularly because I do relate to it.
Working 3 jobs, I'm always exhausted.
I'd call it a heavy burden.
What I need to work on is going to Jesus in moments like that.

To be totally honest, I actually started crying at church today when it was brought up.
It was just so powerful and convicting.

I need to learn to rest,
and to trust in Jesus to take my yolk.
